Stamford Police were called Tuesday afternoon after the mother discovered the marks on her son, who is not verbal.

The mother told officers that her son has hurt himself in the past, but she suspected these marks were not self-inflicted because it did not match similar behavior from the past, police said.

The child takes the bus to a private school in Fairfield, and the boy’s father said he suspected it may have happened on the bus, police said.

Stamford police Sgt. Simon Blanc said the incident was referred to Fairfield Police because it may have occurred in their jurisdiction.
