According to police, Mathew Hernandez, 22, filled a grocery cart with $317 worth of items with the intent to take them to Bridgeport and sell them to bodegas.
When police stopped Hernandez on Fairfield Avenue they said he told them he had nothing to do with the theft, however store security cameras made a positive identification, police said.
Hernandez was brought back to police headquarters and it was found that he had several outstanding warrants from Milford, Trumbull and two from Monroe.
He was held at Fairfield and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and was given a court date of Sept. 4. Fairfield police say that Milford police also issued a court date of Sept. 12.
