String Of Home Burglaries Hits Fairfield, Westport

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two break-ins at homes in northwestern Fairfield might be linked to a pair of similar cases in Westport and Easton during the same two-hour stretch, police say.

An alarm company called police to report a burglary attempt on Redding Road at about 11:30 a.m., Monday. Officers found that two first-floor windows had been broken, but they do not believe the suspects were able to make it inside. Officers and the K-9 unit searched the area but did not find a suspect.

The second call came from Stella Lane about 1:10 p.m. At that house officers found a screen door had been opened and a window pane was broken on a back door. Assorted pieces of jewelry were missing from the home, and there were signs that other areas of the home had been searched. Police found some pieces of jewelry and the remnants of a jewelry box scattered on the house’s front lawn.

The Westport burglary was on Sturges Highway , near the two Fairfield crime scenes, about 1 p.m. A suspect entered a home while the resident was inside and a purse was stolen. The Easton burglary also took place in the same area near where the borders of the three towns meet.

Police believe the suspect in all the burglaries is a white male with dirty blond hair, driving a silver pickup truck. Anyone who might be able to provide information, especially residents in the area with home security cameras, should contact the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau at 203-254-4840.
