Suspect Charged In Fairfield Liquor Store Robbery

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Torrington man was charged with robbing a Fairfield liquor store at knifepoint, according to police reports.

A man entered Pequot Liquors on the Post Road in Southport brandishing a knife at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. He threatened the clerk and then ran out with cash and cigarettes, according to the police report.

Fairfield police saw Marc Gaus, 39, of Torrington, trying to enter a car that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Post Road and Pease Avenue, police said. The knife and the stolen cash were found on him, according to the police report.

Gaus was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, and second-degree threatening, a misdemeanor. His bond was set at $25,000, and he is due back in court Feb. 19.
