Suspect Charged With Selling Pot To Teen In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was arrested Saturday evening after conducting a suspected drug deal in front of a police officer in a Fairfield parking lot, police say.

The officer saw a car drive into the back lot of the Fairfield Motor Inn on the Post Road on Saturday evening, according to the police report. There, the driver met with a teenager and began “suspicious activity,” police say.

After the interaction, the officer pulled over the car on the Post Road for having illegally tinted windows, according to the police report. The Fairfield Police K-9 unit was called, and the police dog alerted on the car’s center console, police say.

Marijuana and $600 cash were found inside, according to the police report. The driver, Benny Garcia, 25, of Bridgeport, admitted to selling marijuana to the juvenile, police say.

Garcia was charged with illegal sale and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting $1,000 bond, and is due in court on July 15.
