Jachin Brown, 27, was arrested Nov. 15 after shooting an off-duty officer during a violent armed robbery at EbLens in Bridgeport, police said. Stratford police also have an arrest warrant for Brown charging him in an armed robbery at BAR in which the bartender was shot.

A Bridgeport police spokesman said the Robbery Squad has prepared three additional arrest warrants for Brown in the following robberies:

  • At Kruasers Market: first-degree robbery;
  • At Bishops Corner: first-degree robbery; and
  • At Avenue Cafe, where a victim was shot in the leg: first-degree criminal attempt at robbery, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and carrying a pistol without a permit.

The warrants have been signed, and Jachim will be formally charged at his next court date for a total bond of $300.000, police said. The dates of the robberies were not released.

Evidence from the Avenue Café and the BAR shooting in Stratford along with the shell casings from the EbLens robbery and shooting all were matched to the same firearm that was recovered in Brown's possession, police said.

For the armed robbery and shooting at BAR in Stratford on Nov. 14, Brown will face charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession of ammunition and carrying a pistol without a permit, police said.

Brown entered BAR in Stratford Center, approached the bartender and demanded money, police said. The bartender handed over cash and then Brown shot him once in the abdomen, police said.

Brown was arrested the next day, Nov. 15, after exchanging gunfire with an off-duty Bridgeport police officer outside EbLens in Bridgeport after a violent robbery there, police said.

The off-duty officer, working at a nearby construction job after a water main break, saw a masked man, now identified as Brown, leaving EbLens at Pequonnock and Chestnut streets. The officer followed Brown, and Brown fired a gun at the officer, police said. The officer shot back, but no one was hit, police said.

Two employees were inside EbLens at the time of the robbery. Police said Brown grabbed one of the women and dragged her by the hair, all while holding her at gunpoint and demanding money. He made off with $1,900 in cash, which police recovered.
