FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Three Fairfield residents awoke to find their cars stolen after leaving them unlocked with the keys inside over the New Year’s holiday weekend, police said.
On Jan. 2, a man reported his 2009 black Acura and three sets of golf clubs had been stolen from the street outside his Catherine Terrace home, police said. He told police he had left the car unlocked with the keys on the front passenger seat at about 5 p.m. New Year’s Day.
He reported it missing at 11:10 a.m. Monday.
A 2014 Honda Accord was reported stolen from a Fern Street driveway at 9:15 a.m. New Year’s Eve, police said. The owner left the car unlocked with the keys in the center console overnight, police said.
About an hour later, a resident called police to report a second 2014 Honda Accord stolen from nearby Judson Road. The car was left unlocked with the keys inside overnight, police said.
Police said several cars in the Fern Street vicinity were rummaged through over the same night.
