DARIEN, Conn. — A Trumbull man sparked suspicion when he tried to hide — twice — from an officer passing by his parked car in a Darien parking lot, police said.

The incident occurred at 6:13 p.m. Oct. 2 at 964 Post Road, police said.

An officer on patrol saw a man sitting in a parked vehicle in the parking lot — and when the the man noticed the officer in his marked patrol vehicle, he ducked down out of view, police said.

The officer passed the vehicle a second time, and again the man ducked down out of view, police said.

The officer made with the occupant, who identified himself as Benjamin Patrick, 24, of 79 Oakridge Road, Trumbull, police said.

A check of his information turned up an active arrest warrant out of Norwalk on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and reckless driving, police said.

Patrick was then handcuffed and detained in a patrol vehicle, police said. Norwalk Police responded to the scene, took custody of Patrick and arrested him on the warrant.
