FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Trumbull man was taken to the hospital early Sunday after his car hit a mailbox and utility pole and flipped on its side on Mill Plain Road, police said.
Police said Michael Ciambriello, 21, of Rocky Ridge Drive, was traveling north on Mill Plain near Crystal Lane about 1:30 a.m., when he struck the mailbox and pole with enough force to move the pole a few inches. He climbed out of the passenger door to get out of the car, police said.
Officers at the scene noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and Ciambriello was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, according to the report.
The accident is under investigation.
