Two Charged With Fighting Fairfield Police

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield police made two arrests this past weekend after dealing with uncooperative people, according to police reports. One officer received minor injuries.

In the first incident, a Melville Drive man was arrested after leading an officer on a chase around Penfield Pavilion on Friday night, police said.

Officers were called to the pavilion’s parking lot at about 11:15 p.m. Friday to clear out a crowd after an event there. Cody McMahon, 20, refused to leave the scene and began fighting officers, police said. He then ran onto the beach nearby before the officer pulled out his Taser and ordered him to stop, police said. The officer was reportedly bleeding from scratches to his hands after the altercation, police said. McMahon was charged with a breach of the peace and interfering with police and held on $500 bond. He is due in court June 22.

The second incident occurred at 1:50 a.m. Monday. A Fairfield police sergeant noticed a car parked in the lot of the abandoned Syms building on Commerce Drive. The men there said their car had broken down and they were waiting for a ride to arrive.

When help came, Shane Woods, 21, of Stamford, began fighting with a family member, police said. He then shoved the sergeant as he tried to break up the fight and refused to cooperate, police said. He was issued a misdemeanor summons for disorderly conduct, and released on a promise to appear in court June 26.
