Two Charged With Lying to Fairfield Police

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two men were charged with lying to police after a one-car accident in Fairfield early Saturday morning. Eduardo Sanchez, 20, of Bridgeport allegedly used the identity of Harry Rosado, 23, of Stratford, in an attempt to get out of a ticket, police say.

An officer on duty near Kings Highway and Berwick Avenue reported hearing what sounded like an accident nearby at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. He found Sanchez behind the wheel of a car that had recently collided with a concrete ledge in a parking lot along Kings Highway, according to the report.

Sanchez originally gave the officer the driver’s license for Rosado, one of his passengers, telling police that he was Rosado. Officers found that Rosado’s license was suspended and issued a ticket for driving under suspension. Sanchez signed the legal paperwork using Rosado’s name.

Officers then figured out Sanchez’s and Rosado’s true identities and both men were taken into custody.

Sanchez was charged with criminal impersonation, second-degree forgery and interfering with an officer and released on a $1,000 bond. Rosado was charged with interfering and released on a $500 bond. Both men are due in court June 19.
