Two Hurt In Tractor-Trailer Crash On I-95 Near Fairfield

WESTPORT, Conn. – The occupants of an SUV involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 near the Westport/Fairfield line Saturday morning were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, Westport Assistant Fire Chief Michael Kronick reported.

Firefighters had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver and passenger from the SUV, Kronick said.

The accident happened at 5:55 a.m. southbound between exits 19 in Fairfield and 18 in Westport, Kronick said. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the cab of a jack-knifed tractor-trailer had rolled down an embankment. The driver of the tractor-trailer escaped without injury, he said. The SUV was heavily damaged.

Both Westport and Fairfield firefighters responded to the accident.
