The 2015 Honda CRV was reported stolen out of a driveway on Silver Brook Road overnight on Feb. 24, police said. The car had been left unlocked with the keys in the ignition, police said.

With the assistance of the Waterbury Police Department, Westport detectives developed Malachi Johnson, 18, and Marcus Singleton, 20, as suspects in the car theft, police said.

A car stolen out of Waterbury had been found in Westport not far from where the Honda was stolen, police said.

Westport detectives interviewed the suspects and were able to complete arrest warrants for Johnson and Singleton based on their confessions, police said.

Johnson and Singleton were each charged with first -degree larceny of a motor vehicle, police said. Bond for each was set at $50,000.

The warrants were served while both men were at Norwalk court on unrelated charges. They were turned over to the Norwalk Court Marshal, police said.
