Victim Of Highway Ramp Stabbing ID'd As 26-Year-Old Bridgeport Man

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The man stabbed to death in an altercation with another driver after a crash on the Exit 5 off-ramp from Route 25/8 in Bridgeport late Thursday night has been identified, NBC Connecticut said.

Bryant Kelly, 26, of Bridgeport, died at St. Vincent's Hospital shortly after the incident, State Police told NBC.

At about 11:20 p.m. Thursday, a 911 caller said two people were outside their vehicles on the Route 25/8, southbound Exit 5 off-ramp and were "walking toward each other in an aggressive manner," according to a statement from State Police.

Immediately after this 911 call, State Police troopers received another 911 call from one of the people involved in the incident.

This caller said he was "actively involved in an altercation" with another male and requested State Police help. A scuffle was overheard, and the 911 call was then disconnected, state police said.

The man called State Police 911 back and said he had moved a short distance away to Lindley Avenue and Capitol Avenue in Bridgeport, state police said.

Bridgeport Police Officers and State Troopers responded to that location and found the caller.

Troopers also went to the scene of the altercation on the off-ramp, where Kelly was found, Vance said. Troopers provided emergency care at the scene, and he was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after admission.

The Office of The Chief States Medical Examiner determined Kelley died of a stab wound, NBC said.

The State Police Western District Major Crime Squad Detectives is continuing the investigation. State Police are asking anyone who may have driven past this scene or who saw anything before or during this incident to contact State Police at 203 696-2500. All calls received will be kept in strict confidence.
