FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield police were called to Village Bagels on the Post Road after an employee found the cash drawers empty and on the floor early Wednesday morning, police said.
An employee told officers that when they arrived at work at 6:30 a.m., they found the doors locked but the alarm off with two cash drawers empty on the floor, police said.
According to the report, only four other employees have keys to the storefront, and there is a regular 5 a.m. delivery.
Workers told police that they were unsure whether the alarm had been turned off or whether it had not been set after the delivery.
There were no signs of forced entry, and a small amount of cash was taken. Police were still investigating the situation.
