A store employee called police at approximately 2:15 p.m. A description of the suspects, and the car they were driving — provided by the employee — was broadcast to Westport, Fairfield and state police, Westport Police Capt. Sam Arciola said.
The suspects were spotted by Fairfield police at the Pequot Liquor store in Southport, where they were arrested, Arciola said. They were found in possession of six fraudulent credit cards and proceeds from the crimes, he said.
The suspects were identified as Oswaldo Ponce, 24, and Javier Rodolfo Camillo, 22, both from the Bronx, N.Y. They were charged with six counts of unlawful reproduction of credit cards, a felony. They were also charged with criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card and fifth-degree larceny, all misdemeanors.
Ponce and Camillo were each being held on a $20,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2.
