Officer Sam Sabin was working traffic detail on Easton Road at the Merritt Parkway around 8:30 p.m., when he noticed Jonathan Loeser, 24, of Bonnie Brook Road, revving his motorcycle while stopped in traffic, police said.

Sabin waved for Loeser to pull over so he could speak to him, but Loeser sped off onto the curb, losing control of the motorcycle, which landed on its side, police said.

He tried to run up Easton Road, but Sabin caught him and took him into custody, police said.

Loeser was charged with interfering with an officer, disobeying the signal of an officer and operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement, police said.

He posted $500 bond and is expected in court on Sept. 25.
