FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A man seen ducking between cars parked outside The Edge Fitness Club in Fairfield Sunday is suspected of breaking into three vehicles there, stealing more than $1,600 worth of purses and cash, police said.

A witness noticed the man at the fitness club, located at 500 Kings Highway Cutoff, at around 1 p.m., but only saw him from the back, police said. The suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and light pants.

One victim reported a window was smashed on her 2008 Audi A4 and her $1,200 Louis Vuitton bag was missing, police said. She told officers she had $40 in cash in the purse.

Another victim said a window was smashed on her 2011 Honda Pilot and her $200 green Longchamp bag containing $200, her driver’s license, credit cards and other belongings was stolen.

The thief also made off with a $50 grey purse with a license, debit card and $20 cash after he smashed the window of a 2013 Volvo XC90, police said.
