Woman, 23, Charged With Stealing Cellphone At Fairfield Gym

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield police arrested a Stratford woman on Tuesday, Jan. 20, on a larceny charge at the Edge Fitness gym on Kings Highway Cutoff - a common spot for reported stolen items.

Sheance Davis, 23, of Yarwood Street, was arrested after police said she stole an employee’s cellphone and was caught on surveillance cameras.

The employee quickly called police to alert them of the incident, and officers were able to secure an arrest before the suspect left the scene, police said.

Although there have been a number of stolen items reported at the Edge location on Kings Highway Cutoff, police say Davis's arrest was isolated and not connected to any others.

Davis was charged with sixth-degree larceny in connection with taking the cellphone valued at $500. She was released on a promise to appear in court Jan. 28.
