FAIRFIELD, Conn. — An 86-year-old woman who was struck by a car while crossing Black Rock Turnpike on Tuesday night died of her injuries early Wednesday, Fairfield police said.
Patricia Barger, of Fairfield, was crossing the road from west to east near Katonah Drive around 7:45 p.m. when she was hit by a northbound car driven by Sharon Ranney, 63, police said.
Barger was not crossing in a crosswalk, and there is no indication that speed played a factor in the accident, police said. She died at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
