FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport woman was charged with theft and interfering with police after an incident at a Fairfield department store Monday. The woman allegedly shoved an off-duty police officer who tried to stop her, police say.

Store security at Kohl’s on Tunxis Hill Road told police the woman left the store Monday morning without paying for $454 worth of jewelry, clothing and perfume, according to the police report. The woman ignored security guards when they tried to stop her and continued walking across the store’s parking lot, police say.

An off-duty Fairfield officer who saw the incident attempted to stop the woman at the edge of the lot, but she resisted, repeatedly pushing the off-duty officer until uniformed officers arrived, police say. The woman finally stopped when Fairfield's K-9 officer arrived and began barking, according to the police report.

Andrea Tucker, 29, of Bridgeport was charged with sixth-degree larceny and interfering with police, both misdemeanors. She was released after posting a $250 bond and is due in court Aug. 21.
