FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Employees at Lennox Jewelers on Black Rock Turnpike contacted Fairfield police when they suspected that a woman was making a fraudulent purchase.
According to the report, Elexsis Williams, 29, of Oakland, Calif., attempted to purchase a Rolex watch for $11,990 using two fraudulent credit cards.
The Lennox employees told police Williams used a Texas drivers license with the name of Trina Harris from Austin with a valid number, but a check found that there was no one of that name in Austin.
She was reportedly uncooperative with employees the entire time and gave two different birth dates.
Officers stopped her in the parking lot and she told them that she had been in a rental car with a friend who left when the police arrived.
Williams was taken to headquarters where it was found she had an extensive criminal history. Police charged her with criminal attempt of larceny in the second degree, illegal use of a credit card, two counts of forgery in the second degree and interfering with an officer.
She was held on a $100,000 bond and given a court date of Nov. 6.
