FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport woman under house arrest in a Fairfield home was charged Monday with stealing a diamond ring and other valuables from her mother, police say.
Arlene Gasper, 31, is accused of taking a diamond ring valued at $5,500, a laptop worth $550, a $100 Bose sound system and a Mickey Mantle baseball card worth $350, according to police reports. The items were taken in early August, police said.
Gasper is under house arrest awaiting trial on charges from the Stratford, Ansonia and Fairfield police departments, according to state court records.
Some of the items were sold at a Bridgeport pawn shop, police say. The man who sold them told police Gasper gave them to him to sell, according to police reports. Police filed arrest warrants for Gasper and the other suspect in mid-August.
Gasper was charged with third-degree larceny, a felony, and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $1,000, and she is due in court Oct. 16.
