FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A woman was arrested on drunken-driving charges after she drove her car into the playground at Pumpkin Preschool in Fairfield on Thursday night, police said.

An anonymous tipster called Fairfield police about the accident. When officers arrived, they found Cathy Louis-Fin, 27, of Norwalk, standing outside her car, which was in the middle of the playground, police said.

She had been traveling on Kings Highway before the car went off the road and through the preschool’s chain link fence before ending up in the middle of the playground, police said.

Louis-Fin gave police an expired Connecticut driver's license and could not locate her current one, police said. The officer reported a strong smell of alcohol on her breath and said her speech was slurred and difficult to understand, police said.

The officer required her to take a field sobriety test, which she failed, and she was taken into custody, police said. At the police station, she took a breath test that showed she was over the legal limit of intoxication to drive, police said.

While at the police station, Louis-Fin began to complain of a headache and said one of her eyes was going blurry, police said. An ambulance was called and she was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, police said.

Louis-Fin was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right. She was released on a promise to appear and given a court date of Nov. 12.
