On April 5, a patron at the Little Goose Cafe on Commerce Drive called police and said the rear bumper and light had been damaged while they were inside the bar, police said.
After watching surveillance videos, officers saw a jeep with a rear tire attached pull up and hit the car at about 9 p.m., damaging the parked car, police said. The driver got out of the car and examined the damage before going inside the bar, police said.
During the investigation, it was determined that the driver had opened a tab using a credit card at the bar, police said. The driver, identified as Catherine Hughes, 47, returned to the bar the next day after leaving her credit card there, police said.
Police said they confirmed that Hughes was the driver of the jeep after a DMV check and requested a warrant for her arrest.
At that time, it was found that Hughes had two previous charges for driving under the influence in Bridgeport in 2013. She had her most recent court appearance July 22, 2014.
Hughes was charged by Fairfield police with evading responsibility and released on $100 cash bond. She was given a court date of Aug. 29.
