FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- U.S. Demcroatic Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut issued a joint statement following Facebook’s action to curb the illegal sale of firearms.

The social media company, which also owns Instagram, announced it would no longer allow sales posts that indicates a user would like to sell a gun without requiring a background check.

The full joint statement is below:

"We’re glad that Facebook and Instagram have taken a stand against gun violence. Their commitment to delete posts that offer gun sales without a background check and prevent underage users from accessing private gun sales demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and other companies should follow suit. The fight against gun violence isn’t something any one person or organization can take on alone. We’re going to get much better results if public and private organizations work together to curb our nation’s gun violence epidemic."

"We also applaud the advocates who pushed Facebook and Instagram to implement these better, safer policies. These advocates are fighting tooth and nail to encourage Congress and private organizations to take a stand against gun violence, and we’re proud to stand with them every step of the way."

Can someone please tell the right wingers to post facts for a change instead of lies and propaganda. Moderator I see that you have been removing all left wing factual posts, while allowing lies , propaganda , name calling and factless posts by the right wingers . If this continues I will be forwarding screen shots of all posts involved to the CEO of the DV.. Its pretty clear the moderator has taken his or her personals views and put them before being a true news source

Can someone tell Chris Murphy and blumenthal to read the gun laws in this country. You can not buy a gun over the internet or over a website unless you ship it FFL to FFL. And you can only buy a hand gun in the state you live in. If you do this on facebook you are breaking federal law. Unless you do it legally.

The cause of gun crime is demographic, but if you get much more specific in detailing who exactly is committing all the gun violence, you get called names and have your post deleted.

Hmmm. Why do these people keep acting like gun violence is an issue? Its been going down for years and while these clown might like to think otherwise its largely due to the trend in curbing overbearing gun control. We hear about our new law, Malloy actually attributed lower crime to it even though its less than a year old, but we don't hear about the many laws curbing restrictions. This publication nor any other looks into the fact that we went from less than 40 states with provisions to carry in public to 50 in recent years. Nor do we hear about how states like AZ, AK & WY did away with a need for any permit, with no rise in crime. They ignore VT which NEVER had ANY gun control, none, yet never had a crime problem.

These clowns don't do much besides prance around ignoring the state of the country in regard to things they should be doing and pushing the progressive caged which has already killed the state they pretend to represent.
