“Fred Garrity is exactly the type of person we need in Hartford. Fred has a reputation for truly effective leadership and record of success chairing the Planning and Zoning Commission in Trumbull, and Fred’s bipartisan actions are well known and commendable,” said Tom Kelly, the chairman of the Trumbull democratic committee, in his nominating speech.
“He was twice elected chairman by the bipartisan board of directors from Fairfield, Trumbull, Easton, Stratford, Monroe and Bridgeport for the six-town Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency, where he lead the cost effective changes increasing efficiencies in staff and resources, implementing the process that evolved that agency into the COG, Council of Governments it is today. Fred always takes action. His record of municipal leadership combined with his reputation for raising monies for local and regional charitable causes over the last two decades, provides the integrity, character and strength Trumbull and Fairfield need in Hartford on our behalf,” Kelly continued.
Garrity stated in his brief acceptance speech that, “Fairfield and Trumbull, along with Fairfield County, need to be on par with the greater Hartford area when it comes to the state’s allocation of funding for infrastructure improvements in transportation, along with education and public safety. We need representatives who can work together to get those resources down here – I am that representative. I believe in action, not words. Fairfield and Trumbull deserve representation that brings results in state funding for needed projects, not more commentary on why things can’t get done.”
“Working across the aisle in Planning and Zoning, and regionally, I have helped secure tens of millions of dollars in development in Trumbull, I have lead the way, getting things done with great reward for our towns, and I want to use my proven abilities to provide that for Fairfield and Trumbull in Hartford,” Garrity continued.
The 134th State Representative District is currently represented by Republican Laura Devlin.
