Fawcett applauded the scheduling changes made by the railroad to save morning commuters up to 28 minutes in travel time due to restored connections.
But even with the positive changes, more work was required to ensure top-notch service from Metro-North, she said.
“Investment in transportation has to be a number one priority for the state going forward. There is no excuse anymore to wait,” Fawcett said in a statement. “We need to develop a long-term investment plan that sets us on the road to fixing and upgrading our infrastructure. It is that simple.”
Investing in Metro-North is investing in the state's economy, she said. Recent studies showed Connecticut as one of the worst states to do business and one of the leading factors was poor infrastructure, Fawcett said.
