To the Editor:
As a resident of Fairfield for over 35 years, I enthusiastically support the candidacy of Fred Garrity for State Representative in the 134th District, a district comprising a portion of both Fairfield and Trumbull.
Fred Garrity is a resident of Trumbull, where he is presently serving as chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board. Previously, Fred was the Appeals Commissioner for the Zoning Board. Under Fred’s stewardship, the Board has been able to preserve the character and integrity of the town and at the same time promote smart development.
Over a period that spanned several years, Fred devoted himself to community service and gained invaluable experience through leadership on regional boards and affiliations with agencies that serve the residents of Fairfield and Trumbull, as well as surrounding municipalities. He was twice elected as the bipartisan chairman of the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency Board of Directors. Fred was also active on the Metropolitan Planning Organization for our region. In these capacities, Fred fostered a culture of fiscal responsibility and bipartisan cooperation while addressing common issues and interests on the local and state levels.
Fred has been instrumental in raising multiple millions of dollars for development for our area. He played a critical role in spearheading the effort to provide transportation funding in order to complete the reconfiguration of the Black Rock Turnpike/Kings Highway Traffic Circle adjacent to the Staples Shopping Center in Fairfield.
Fred Garrity has an undergraduate degree in Business and a dual Masters of Science Degree in Management and Business Administration. Using skill sets from his academic background and from his extensive experience in professional, elected and volunteer positions, Fred has compiled an impressive resume for dedicated public service.
I currently reside in the 134th House District, and I feel it is imperative for Fred Garrity to represent us in Hartford.
