To the Editor:

These are not easy times for Connecticut. We need committed, intelligent, attentive & energetic representation. During her first term as state representative for the 133rd district, Cristin McCarthy Vahey has exemplified the Democratic ideal of public service over self service. Cristin studies the issues and listens to her constituents and colleagues before she casts her vote.

David Brooks has written that elected officials can often be divided between those who have a vocation and those who have a career. Cristin has proven without a doubt that she has a vocation for public service. She truly has a passion for helping others and being part of solutions. Advocating for constructive remedies rather than wallowing in deficiencies energizes her. She is tireless in her attention to the needs of her constituents and the future good of the state of Connecticut.

She recognized that the fiscal condition of the state required a budgetary cutback in services and adjustment in revenue streams. Cristin voted against the budget her party supported as she disagreed with the allocations. She speaks and votes her well-considered and informed mind.

Please join me in voting to re-elect Cristin McCarthy Vahey.
