Dear Editor:

I would like to express my strongest support for the re-election of Cristin McCarthy Vahey as our State Representative in the 133rd District from Fairfield. I am thankful to have known Cristin for many years. Cristin is truly exceptionally qualified especially for these challenging times. She is experienced, highly intelligent, honest and, maybe most important in these politically challenging times, courageous.

Cristin has served on Fairfield’s Board of Selectmen and RTM and leadership roles with League of Women Voters, Fairfield, Cares, PTA and her church community. She and her husband of 21 years, Brian a U.S. Navy veteran, are raising their three children in Fairfield, all through the Fairfield public schools.

Cristin’s priorities are economic development and job creation, advocating for public schools and higher education, revitalization of transportation and infrastructure, and wise investment and fiscal responsibility. Cristin is one far few public leaders who understand these priorities are directly related and vital for success in the twenty-first century knowledge based global economy. Cristin is a member of the permanent Commission on Economic Competitiveness.

Especially during these troubling political times we need a leader like Cristin, who has demonstrated the talent and courage to stand in the front and lead regardless of the pressures of partisan politics and special interests.

Please join me in voting for Cristin on Nov. 8.

Tom Drew
