To the editor:

I am very pleased and honored to endorse Dru Georgiadis for State Representative in the 132nd District.

What happens at the state level directly affects Fairfield in many ways.  It is therefore critical that we have a strong and effective leader like Dru up in Hartford asking the tough questions and fighting to get the best results for our town.

A long-time resident and active member of our community, Dru has the experience and determination to find better solutions to some of the issues plaguing our state that often trickle down to our town. As a mother, community leader and volunteer, former Metro-North commuter and daughter of a Word War II and Korean War veteran, you can count on Dru to work hard to represent the needs of every resident in the 132nd district.

From the time Dru and her husband, Martin, chose Fairfield as their hometown 25 years ago, Dru has dedicated herself as an advocate for students and senior citizens.

As the proud mom of four boys -Gavin, age 21 and three 19-year old triplets-Luke, Alec and Griffin - Dru understands the importance of students receiving an excellent education in a safe and secure environment. Dru emerged early on as a reliable and effective leader when she served as a PTA board member at Sherman Elementary School, Tomlinson Middle School and Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Dru received the Sherman PTA Volunteer of the Year Award in 2008 for her hard work and commitment to Fairfield’s students. She was actively involved with Wakeman Boys & Girls Club’s Youth Lacrosse Program coaching boy’s lacrosse for nine seasons.

Dru’s desire to serve her community and be a voice for the citizens of Fairfield prompted her to run for the RTM in which she received the most votes in her district. Dru is currently vice-chair of the RTM’s Public Works and Planning Committee.  She is also a member of the RTM Committee on Senior and Disabled Tax Relief. Whether she is volunteering at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities or seeking tax relief measures to help seniors remain in their homes,

Dru is committed to the well-being of Fairfield’s older adults.

On Nov. 8, I hope citizens in the 132nd district will join me in supporting Dru Georgiadis for State Representative.

Thank you.

Mike Tetreau
