"This complaint was filed by the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee less than 60 days before Election Day. I think that speaks for itself. "Still, as ranking member of the Government Administration and Elections Committee, I recognize that the SEEC has a duty to investigate any complaint that is submitted, regardless of how trivial or baseless it is. I am fully cooperating with the investigation and expect to be exonerated. "It’s disappointing that the DTC continues to go down this negative path, and that they have “weaponized” the SEEC complaint process to lob political cheap shots. "Clearly, the DTC would rather try to distract voters of the 28th District with petty accusations, rather than discuss the important issues facing our state. Jobs/economy, taxes, education, and transportation — these are the issues that people have told me they care about as I’ve walked around the neighborhoods of the 28th District, and that’s where my focus will continue to be."
Hwang is seeking election to the 28th State Senate District. His Democratic opponent is 133rd District State Rep. Kim Fawcett. The Senate seat is currently held by Minority Leader John McKinney, who is not seeking re-election. The district includes parts of Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, Weston and Westport.
