Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz made the appointments for Vahey, who is in her second term in the Connecticut House of Representatives.

"I’m pleased to continue serving on committees that address issues of great importance to my constituents. Quality public education and transportation infrastructure are especially critical to Fairfield’s economic vitality,” Vahey said.

“In her first term in the legislature, Rep. McCarthy Vahey quickly proved herself to be a hard worker and passionate advocate for her constituents and her community,” Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington) said.

“Always a valuable contributor to her committees, Cristin has earned her new leadership position and I look forward to working with her this session to find solutions to the pressing issues facing our state.”

Vahey previously served on the Education, Transportation, and Appropriations Committees.
