The RTC unanimously re-elected Millington to serve a two-year term.

In 2015, Millington, a lifelong resident of the area, helped to lead the party to win a majority on the Board of Selectman and the Representative Town Meeting.

He has also been credited for his initiatives to reform the party’s caucus system, along with his skills as a fundraiser.

“It has been an honor to serve as your chairman over the past four years,” said Millington during his speech Monday. “People have heard our calls to control taxes while providing quality services to all residents and know that Fairfield’s Republicans are committed to putting Fairfield first. Our focus has never been stronger thanks to our robust and active membership and volunteers.”

Millington, a realtor with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty in Southport, previously served on the RTM for three terms, and was the body’s majority leader.

In addition to Millington, RTM member Edward Bateson was elected to serve a two-year term as RTC vice chairman.

Bateson has served as the RTC’s candidate recruitment chairman over the past four years. He is also a member of the RTM in District 1 and the former RTM majority leader.

Along with Millington and Bateson, Patricia Lucas was re-elected as secretary.

After being sworn in to office by Town Clerk Betsy Browne, Millington appointed Board of Finance member David Becker as treasurer.

Millington also announced the creation of the position of finance director, and the executive committee supported his appointment of Trumbull resident Jeff Wright to the post.

Wright previously served as vice chairman of the Connecticut State Republican Party in the 4th district.
