Fairfield's Cristin McCarthy Vahey Endorsed As Candidate For State Rep

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Selectman Cristin McCarthy Vahey won the endorsement of the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee last week to run for state representative in Fairfield’s 133rd District.

“The outpouring of support for my candidacy to be the next State Representative for the 133rd District is both humbling and exciting! With you at my side, I know anything is possible. I look forward to working with all of you in the months ahead as we prepare for the election,” said McCarthy Vahey.

The seat in the 133rd House District is currently held by Democrat Kim Fawcett, who is running for the seat John McKinney is vacating in the state Senate as he seeks the Republican Party nomination to run for governor.

McCarthy Vahey is a mother, social worker, community leader and elected official. She is employed at Casey Family Services, helping older youth in foster care to become permanently adopted and has held leadership roles in the League of Women Voters, Girl Scouts, PTA and her church. She is also a co-chair of Fairfield Cares Community Coalition, where she works to prevent teen suicide and substance abuse.

McCarthy Vahey was elected to Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting in 2005, serving as deputy moderator from 2007 to 2009 and minority leader from 2009 to 2011. She was elected to the Fairfield Board of Selectman in 2011.
