Coyner, a Democrat, is challenging Republican incumbent Brenda Kupchick for the state House seat in District 132.

“It is an honor to announce that following the recommendation of the Executive Board and the Political Action Committee, the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut heartily endorses Kevin Coyner for election to the office of State Representation this November,” said Peter S. Carozza, Jr., president of the organization.

“This action was taken after careful consideration of his support for the Professional Fire Fighters of Connecticut and his leadership in helping to ensure the health and safety of our members and that of our fellow citizens.”

Coyner said, “I was very pleased to receive the support of these public safety organizations. As a firefighter myself, I know and understand the dedication to helping people that these men and women have and how they take pride in their professions. There's no better reward for a job well done that being able to make a difference in someone's life."

The Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut is the state association of the International Association of Fire Fighters, which represents 60 affiliated local unions in the state, comprising about 4,200 members.
