The pastor of the Old Stratfield Road church called police when he noticed the wine was missing and a security video showed a balding man in his 50s walking through the building with the bottle of Carlo Rossi at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Officers determined the man had been “hanging around” the church for years and a past pastor had allowed him to sleep in the building from time to time, police said.

After the theft, the current pastor asked that police warn the man to stay away from the property, police said. No charges were filed.
