To the Editor,

As a member of the Board of Selectmen, Cristin Vahey helped to continue the increased wasteful spending in the Fairfield school system, causing Fairfield property owners to be burdened with ever-increasing taxes. As a selectperson, she rubber-stamped whatever Selectman Tetreau asked of her. Two years ago, however, Cristin Vahey left the position as second selectperson, and promised that, as a State Representative, she would help bring new business to the State of Connecticut.

Sadly, the people believed her promises to help the state government; and they gave her a chance — they sent her to Hartford. However, once in the legislature, Cristin has did exactly the same thing she did when in Fairfield — she has continued to rubber-stamp every free-spending program Malloy and his big spenders can dream up.

In fact, with Cristin Vahey's help, Malloy has enacted one of the largest tax increases in the entire history of the State of Connecticut — including the crazed imposition of the income tax by Lowell Weicker! Thanks to Cristin's help, Connecticut now has the second highest real estate taxes in the entire country. Malloy and his cronies in Hartford, including Cristin Vahey, imposed a 20 percent corporate surcharge and processing taxes on businesses, which had the immediate effect of pushing General Electric Corp. to leave the state!

Not only did they enact taxes which had the immediate effect of harming businesses, they enacted taxes upon hospitals, which, obviously, have to be covered by increased medical care charges to patients! As if the damage they were doing to the State of Connecticut wasn't enough, Malloy, Cristin and their Hartford big-spenders also socked it to every single citizen in the state by increasing the sales tax; they then piled up on Connecticut's Senior citizens and imposed taxes on Social Security benefits and pensions.

These politicians, Malloy and Cristin Vahey and their partners in Hartford fit perfectly the old warning: "They never saw a tax they didn't like!" Fairfield citizens need to make fundamental change in who represents our interests in Hartford. We cannot afford to have "yes-persons" rubber-stamp every doomed Malloy proposal and tax. Ninety-eight percent of Cristin Vahey's votes have been in unison with Malloy's proposals and desires. Ninety-eight percent! As the massive General Electric headquarters is poised to fall into the hands of non tax-paying nonprofit organizations, Cristin is yet again asking the citizens to send her back to Hartford — where she helped chase out GE!

Ray Neuberger for offers a fresh choice for Fairfield; a new chance for the State of Connecticut; a chance to help right the economic house in Hartford — not rubber-stamp Malloy's tax and spend policies as a lackey. Ray Neuberger will take to Hartford the wishes and desires of Fairfield property owners and taxpayers — he will work to retain business in Connecticut, lower the tax burden, and attract new companies to the state, Vote for Ray Neuberger on Nov. 8!
