Sheila Marmion, a former member of the Representative Town Meeting, was appointed by Selectman Kevin Kiley and First Selectman Michael Tetreau. McCarthy Vahey resigned from the post after she was elected to the State House of Representatives this past November.

“It’s been a pleasure seeing someone who is intelligent and articulate in the Representative Town Meeting serve,” Tetreau said. “We look forward to working with [Marmion] on this board.”

McCarthy Vahey was also on hand to offer comments to her successor at the Thursday night meeting.

“As you can see, I’m missing talking at these meetings,” McCarthy Vahey said, laughing. “Those who follow the RTM, know Shelia very well. For those who don’t, you’ll have the pleasure of getting to know her.”

The Board of Selectmen wasted no time in asking the town clerk to swear in Mamion, who served her first meeting on the board from there on out.

Tetreau noted that Mamion was unanimously selected by the Democratic Town Committee to serve out the rest of McCarthy Vahey’s term, which expires in November 2015.
