Fawcett, a four-term state representative from Fairfield who served as vice chair of the Children's Committee, said she is honored to have the teachers' support. She said she will continue her efforts to ensure that teachers' voices are heard in Hartford.

"In 2015, I want to slow down and dramatically rethink the Common Core standards and testing requirements in response to concerns raised by our dedicated and hard-working teachers."
