Pelham Man Says Jewelry, Cash Stollen From His Home

PELHAM, N.Y. – A man told police at 8:46 p.m. Friday that his home had been burglarized and that several pieces of jewelry were taken.

The man said someone broke into his home through the rear kitchen window and stole $300 in cash along with various pieces of jewelry from three second floor bedrooms. The man told police that the incident occurred between 9:30 a.m., when his son locked the doors of the home, and 8:40 p.m. when the family returned home.

Police searched and cleared the home. Officers saw the broken window screen on the floor of the deck and noticed two broken panes of glass from the rear kitchen window, according to the police report. A detective entered two pieces of the broken glass as evidence.

Police asked the neighbors for any information. The police report said one man told police he saw an unknown male standing by the front door and an unknown car parked in front of the house earlier in the day.

Detectives were set to follow up on the case.

• A man called police at 4:30 p.m. Sunday to report a broken window. The man said that he noticed a small hole in the top of the screen and glass of his bedroom window while he was closing his curtain. A small pebble was stuck between the glass and the screen. The man said he didn’t know when the damage occurred but wanted police to document the incident. Officers looked for witnesses and suspects but found no one. Police entered the pebble into evidence.
