CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Chappaqua real estate veteran Sheila Siderow of Armonk, died Feb. 20. She was 69.
A realtor for over 32 years, she founded Siderow Realty Group in 1994 and went on to innovate the web experience for Westchester buyers with unprecedented virtual tours in 1995.
In addition to finding the right homes for Chappaqua residents, Siderow became involved in the larger picture. She created the "Child Moves" program to help children adjust to moving and offered global relocation services for international clients settling in Westchester.
Siderow also cast her vision of customer commitment to her community, founding the former Woman-to-Woman Network, an organization that guided newly-single women through legal and financial steps following a separation or loss of a spouse. She sponsored Chappaqua and Pleasantville Parents Preschool Associations and her real estate firm supported Chappaqua Community Day and the Town of New Castle Run.
Last September, Siderow made headlines after Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate acquired the former Siderow Realty Group in partnership with their earlier purchase of Westchester firm, Holmes & Kennedy Real Estate.
Siderow previously served as a vice president of Houlihan Lawrence, a residential brokerage based in Bronxville, for several years before leaving to found Siderow Realty Group, now Siderow Kennedy.
Along with her husband Neil, Siderow was awarded the "Star of Hope" by the Westchester Board of Hadassah for her support of the Jewish and broader communities of Westchester and New York City at a gala in March of 2009.
She is survived by her husband Neil, her sons Stephen, Brad and Josh, her daughters-in-law Saskia, Vanessa and Sharon and five grandchildren. Services will be held privately.
