Assailants were waiting outside a party at St. Mark’s Syriac Orthodox Cathedral on Elm Avenue and set upon one of the attendees just before midnight, witnesses said.

That 36-year-old victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with a head injury, as were two other people with lesser injuries, Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps Lt. Izzy Infield told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The male EMS worker went to Holy Name Medical Center after the victim bit him on the arm, Infield said.

Teaneck police said they got the call at 11:47 p.m.

Township firefighters and two township volunteer ambulance corps crews also responded, along with an ALS unit from Holy Name.

An investigation was continuing, police told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
