Bridgeport Area Ranks 2nd To Last Among Nation's College Cities

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport has ranked second to last among the best and worst college cities, according to a report by WalletHub.com.

The University of Bridgeport and Housatonic Community College are located in the Park City, with Sacred Heart University and Fairfield University in neighboring Fairfield.

WalletHub said that for academic success, students need to live in area that is safe, affordable and conducive to personal development through cultural and professional experiences. Affordability is another a top priority, the study said.

WalletHub ranked 280 U.S. cities and towns by analyzing 23 key metrics such as the quality of higher education, crime rates and the cost of living. 

New Haven earned the 155th spot and Hartford took the 255th place on the list, the report said. 

Oxford, Ohio, was ranked as the best college city and Yonkers, N.Y., earned the worst spot, the report said.
