The teens will be showcasing their boats in an exhibition race that takes off from 9:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 14, at Captain’s Cove, 1 Bostwick Ave., Bridgeport.

All of the boats in the race have been built entirely by the students who will be racing them.

A cocktail-class racing boat is an 8-foot plywood skimmer that is an economical, easily constructed and exciting runabout. It is ideal for racing at all skill levels and ages.

Five students from Fairfield who attend the Aquaculture School and also attend Fairfield Ludlowe High School and Fairfield Warde High School will be among the teens racing their boats.

Students from Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford, Milford, Shelton and Trumbull will also be racing in the event.

The restaurant at Captain’s Cove will be open for business as students race in the harbor in a series of heats to determine a winner.

This event is free and open to the public.
