Carnival Season Returns to Fairfield

Another sure sign of spring is sprouting up along Jennings Beach on Thursday evening: The carnival is in town. McKinley Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Association will hold its annual fair this weekend along Fairfield’s shore.

Stewart Amusement has set up the event’s rides, featuring such favorites as the Ferris wheel, the Ali Baba and the funhouse. And Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, it will sell wristbands allowing unlimited rides for a flat fee. Post Road barbecue joint The Shack Grille will handle the refreshments, selling burgers, hot dog and pulled pork sandwiches, plus other carnival treats.

All profits from the carnival go to the McKinley PTA. It is the group’s largest annual fundraiser and helps sponsor cultural enrichment activities and field trips for the school’s students.

The McKinley Carnival runs 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. It will take place in the parking lot at Jennings Beach, at the end of South Benson Road. For more information, contact Domingo Thomas at domingo.thomas@gmail.com.
