“FELO (Fairfield Emerging Leaders Organizatio) is a new group within the chamber which was just started this past year,” said Beverly A. Balaz, president.

Darrin Fodor, vice president, financial services manager for People’s United Bank, and Jackie Kosiba, director of sales, Delamar, Southport, were two of the founding members of FELO and currently hold leadership positions.

The 2015 FELO Scholarship Awards were presented to Elliot Herman of Fairfield Ludlowe High School by Balaz and Fodor; and to Julia Correll of Fairfield Warde High School by Balaz and Kosiba.

In addition to the actual scholarship, both Fodor and Kosiba are making themselves available to each student throughout the year.

FELO, or Fairfield Emerging Leaders Organization, is a young professionals group whose goal is to network among themselves, share ideas and discuss challenges to help them achieve success as they continue their career path toward more senior-level management positions.

In addition, the group's mission is to help raise money for scholarship awards. These scholarships will be presented to a graduating high school student who will be attending a business school or majoring in business and who has financial needs.

“I’m very excited about the chamber’s involvement with scholarships”, said Balaz. "I love education and I love business. … We want to be part of each student’s college success.”
