"The Newtown PTA asked for snowflakes to decorate the Chalk Hill location," said. Lisa Havey, president of the Fairfield PTA council.
She said Fairfield students and their families were cutting paper to makes the snowflakes, and they had also received donations from Greenwich High School and schools in Falmouth and Freeport, Maine.
"They want to do something and they're grateful for the opportunity," said Fairfield state Rep. Brenda Kupchick, who visited the school Saturday afternoon.
Ai Nguyen, who has two children in Fairfield schools, dropped off a bag of snowflakes her children had made at home.
"It's small, but it helps," she said. "We don't know what else to do."
