Fairfield Prep Senior Earns National Merit Honor

Fairfield Prep senior Connor Byrne was named as a finalist this week in the National Merit Scholarship competition. Connor, one of 13 Prep students to earn honors this year from the program, will compete against 15,000 other seniors across the country for one of the coveted scholarships.

Connor has earned Prep’s top honors, summa cum laude, in all four years at the school, as well as the Excellence in Mathematics and Science Award from Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and is a starter on the varsity lacrosse team. He will attend Amherst College next fall.

Other Prep seniors who earned honors from the National Merit Scholarship program include commended seniors William Firisin, Sean McGuinness, Paul Yang, Tyler Agostino, Kirk Mahoney, James Shafer, Jack Gibson, Sean Welch, Christopher Hughes, Nicholas Hilton, Brendan Doran and Brian Quigley.
